Once beans have cooled, drain and set aside. Using a slotted spoon, remove beans from boiling water, and immediately drop into a large bowl of ice water. Add green beans, and boil for 3 to 4 minutes. Fill a large stockpot halfway full with water, add a dash of salt, and bring to a light boil.Then add the crisped bacon back to the pan before layering and baking the casserole. Chicken Better than Bouillon: this concentrated chicken broth is a great starter to sauces.But, if you use minced jarred garlic too! Garlic: I used fresh garlic that I pushed through a garlic press.Yellow Onion: I dice this, but you can also slice it.If cremini mushrooms are not available, I also enjoy this with shiitake mushrooms or mixed mushrooms. You can buy your mushrooms sliced if you’d like to save time.
